If you would like to join the Coalition for an Accountable Recovery (CAR) Google Group but are not associated with a member organization, we ask that you affirm the coalition's goals. If you endorse CAR's principles (detailed below), please email us at ombwatch (at) ombwatch (dot) org with the subject line: “I endorse the Coalition for an Accountable Recovery's principles. ” An invitation to the CAR Google Group will follow.

By joining the Coalition for an Accountable Recovery (CAR) Google Group (http://groups.google.com/group/coalition-for-an-accountable-recovery) you are endorsing the principles of CAR as outlined in the coalition's Description document (http://www.accountablerecovery.net/node/2). Specifically, you are endorsing CAR's belief that there must be requirements for detailed data and research tools on a searchable website to allow the public to effectively track and analyze the actions of the government (federal and state) – as well as bailed-out companies, subsidized companies, and government contractors – to judge how any recovery funds, including those to the financial sector, are being spent.

Where possible, organizations should become members of CAR. However, individuals may also become members. No one is prohibited from joining CAR as long as they endorse the principles. This includes members of the media, who may be interested in transparency and accountability when it comes to financial and economic issues. All information and communication transmitted through the Google Group and listserv is not for quotation or attribution without the express permission of the email author.

If you would like to add an organization as an organizational member of the coalition, please email the group at moderator with an affirmation of the coalition's principles by your organization's executive director (or equivalent). All organizational member names will appear on the coalition's list of member organizations. Employees or members of an endorsing organization will be granted membership to the Google Group and listserv.
